How we look after your details
Short version: if you order something, we keep your name and email only for as long as it takes to get the item to you, we show it only to the person making it, and then we delete it. We never sell it, never advertise to you, and never pass it to anyone else.
Who's responsible
Brave Like Bell is run on behalf of Annabell's family, and is the data controller for anything you give us. That's the legal term for whoever is responsible for looking after your details, and it means the buck stops with us.
If you have a question about your details, or you want them deleted, email orders@bravelikebell.org and it will be dealt with. That address is read every day and is the right route for anything to do with your information.
What we collect, and only when you order something
Browsing this site collects nothing about you personally. If you fill in an order form, we collect:
- Your name and email address, so we can confirm your order and tell you when it's ready
- Your phone number, but only if you choose to give it
- Your postal address, but only if you asked for the item to be posted. If you're collecting in person, we never ask for it and never store one
- What you ordered, and anything you typed in the message box
Who sees it
Only the one person who takes on your order. Everyone in that group is told an order has come in, but they're shown what was ordered and nothing about you. Your name, email and address appear only to whoever taps "I'll do this one", and only after they do.
They are family, friends and local businesses volunteering their time. Each of them agrees, in writing and on the record, to use your details for your order and nothing else, not to keep their own copy, and not to contact you outside of it.
Nobody else sees it. It is not shared with JustGiving, with any social media company, or with anyone advertising anything.
How long we keep it
Order records are deleted automatically 90 days after your order is finished or cancelled. You don't have to ask; it happens on its own. If you'd like it gone sooner, email the address above and we'll delete it.
Payment
You pay the person making your item directly when you collect or receive it. This site never takes payment and never sees your card details. We never see, store or handle card details, because no payment ever happens on this website.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and does not track you. Visitor numbers are counted in a way that doesn't identify anyone and doesn't follow you around the internet, which is why you've never seen a cookie banner here.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we'll do it. If you're not happy with how it's been handled you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Where it's stored
Order details are held on Cloudflare's servers and emails are sent through an email provider, both under contracts that require them to keep it secure and use it only to provide that service.
